Nico Müller and Swiss outfit NIANCO esports to compete in World eX

Landschlacht, March 3, 2021 – Nico Müller, another real-world star in motorsport who will be competing in DTM and Formula E in 2021, has founded his new NIANCO esports team. The Swiss outfit is the latest to join the inaugural season of the new RCCO World eX Championship with its aim of #RacingForTheClimate.

Alongside his real-world commitments to sustainable racing as a driver in Formula E, Nico Müller has founded NIANCO (“Nico and Co” ) esports and confirmed his team’s participation in World eX, an esports racing series aimed at combining the excitement of motorsport and a strong message of sustainability by raising awareness about the climate crisis. “I am very excited to have founded my own esports team and that we will be racing in World eX. The series promises a great show, close racing and lots of potential for growth, coupled with its environmental and sustainability goals,” says professional real-world racing driver Nico Müller. “It was a very last-minute decision to join the series and to build up the structure around our team, but we are very motivated to turn this new long-term program into a success. We will definitely have some learning to do and will most likely be an underdog, but we are ready for the challenge and progress. I am looking forward to announcing the rest of the people involved in NIANCO esports soon.”

Switzerland is now the sixth nation represented on the ever-growing World eX grid, joining teams from Belgium, China, France, Germany and the United Kingdom. Nico Müller also raced in and became the champion of the 2020 RCCO #RaceHome Charity Racing Series, which was also founded by Mike Rockenfeller during the first lockdown phase of last year.

“We are delighted to add another nation to our line-up and even more so with the addition of Nico Müller and his NIANCO esports team. I have known and raced against him in the DTM for many years. He is a fierce competitor in everything he does, which he also proved in the virtual world of #RaceHome last year,” says Mike Rockenfeller, CEO and co-founder of the RCCO E-Sport AG. “Nico is a very versatile and smart driver. We’re looking forward to the level of professionalism that he will bring to the party.”

Silverstone will play host to the first-ever RCCO World eX Championship event. The eX Prix of Great Britain will be broadcast on March 11 from 20:00 CET on motorsport.tv and other channels (see www.rccoworldex.com/watchfor more details). The full entry list for Season 1 of World eX and the opening race will be revealed on the new Twitch channel of World eX on Saturday (March 6) at 20:00 CET.
