World eX welcomes Biela Racing Team EURONICS

Landschlacht, March 4, 2021 – Biela Racing Team EURONICS is the latest squad to join #RacingForTheClimate in

the inaugural RCCO World eX Championship season. Led by former professional racing driver Frank Biela, the team of fast youngsters form a formidable force in esports racing.

Biela Racing Team EURONICS was founded by former real-world professional racing driver Frank Biela, 5-time Le Mans winner and multiple national touring car champion. Biela being the team manager and senior figure, his squad of youngsters consists of drivers from Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg and Turkey. One of them, 18-year-old German talent Luca Kita, will be the team’s esports racer, while ‘Sir’ Frank Biela himself will be the pro racing driver.

“I am very happy that we are part of the show. This championship is a very good thing, especially if you look at what is going on in the world. Climate change is a real challenge and more and more manufacturers are going the electric route. This makes #RacingForTheClimate with World eX a perfect fit with the current circumstances around the world,” says Frank Biela. “I hope we will be well prepared for the opening round. We want to be successful, but the main aim is to push the whole project of World eX forward. The entire package is great, and I am sure that we will have a good show so that in the end it provides great entertainment for the fans. We are very excited to be part of it and looking forward to it.”

Frank Biela is also a longtime friend of the RCCO family, having been involved in the ‘big small’ RCCO electric racing series for slot cars including five overall victories in the ‘blue ribbon’ #RCCO24 event of the series. He was also the race director of the virtual RCCO #RaceHome Charity Racing Series, which was founded by Mike Rockenfeller and Thomas Voigt during the first lockdown period in 2020 and involved in getting the World eX project started.

“In Biela Racing Team EURONICS, we have secured another top-level outfit from the world of esports racing,” says Mike Rockenfeller, CEO and co-founder of the RCCO E-Sport AG. “I have known Frank for many years, both on and off the track. We’re both former DTM champions and I’m excited that he and his team are now part of our World eX project. It’s really cool that Frank will be racing himself while his team-mate is a student and very young. This is a fantastic combination and a cool story for our broadcast show.”

Silverstone will be the first virtual venue of the inaugural season, when the eX Prix of Great Britain kicks off World eX on March 11, broadcast from 20:00 CET (www.rccoworldex.com/watch). The full grid of Season 1 will be revealed on the new Twitch channel of World eX on Saturday (March 6) from 20:00 CET.
